Slide The Curriculum

At Woodfield School, our students follow individual pathways of education, with full access to the National Curriculum, differentiated to individual ability.

Class groups are small, with a maximum of 6 students to one teacher and a minimum of 1 teaching assistant. The curriculum follows a primary -based model at Key Stages 2 & 3, where groups are taught by the same teacher, except for some specialisms, such as Music and Food Technology. There is a structured approach to teaching, to ensure predictability and routine.

At 14, students can choose to take GCSEs and/or follow a vocational programme of courses through NOCN and ASDAN. They can also access work experience and links to other colleges, to ensure they follow an education pathway that is tailored to their individual interests and abilities. At all Key Stages there is a strong emphasis on PSHE, which is embedded across the curriculum, with the key aim of promoting social development and citizenship

Therapy

Students have access to small group or 1:1 sessions of Speech Language & Communication Therapy or Occupational Therapy according to their individual needs. Counselling is also available on site.

Progress

Half termly meetings are held with the multi-disciplinary team to formally assess progress against the child’s Individual Learning Plan, based on their EHCP targets. Academic progress is monitored and tracked regularly and interventions are implemented as required.

Positive Outcomes

Our ethos is strongly rooted in our commitment to provide our students with a supportive, safe and enabling environment for them to discover their confidence and achieve their aspirations for the future. They will develop their resilience and gain securely embedded skills that will set them on their journey towards a fulfilled and meaningful life.
