 ‘Creating opportunities, discovering success’

Woodfield School is an independent specialist SEN school for young people aged 7 to 19 years, who have special educational needs, specifically SEMH or Moderate Learning Difficulties and additional needs, or have been diagnosed as having an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) or a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD). We will admit young people with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) or where the local authority feels we can meet their individual needs. Referrals are usually made by Local Authorities or Social Services and can be made at any point during the academic year by direct contact with the school.

Woodfield School provides a supportive environment for young people who may have found mainstream school a challenge.  We support our pupils through specialist teaching and interventions, through a tailored, person-centred curriculum.  Our staff follow are ASK principles, they have a relentless determination and ambition to support every child through kindness.

Our core values are for all young people to

  • Become happy, safe and confident members of the community
  • Fulfil their potential to lead as meaningful, and independent a life as possible
  • Develop strategies for self-managing their behaviour in all settings
  • Become responsible citizens.

And to achieve this, we pride ourselves in

  • Providing a structured approach to our day-to-day activities so that clear and consistent routines ensure a purposeful, calm, learning environment
  • Getting to know every young person as an individual, so that their curriculum and experience meets their needs and fosters their aspirations so that we are ambitious for all our pupils
  • Creating opportunities of awe and wonder for our young people to learn about the world in which they live.

In return, pupils must agree to abide by Woodfield’s expectations, including our an anti-bullying policy.

We all follow the ASK principles:

We have ambition for everyone at Woodfield and we try our best in everything we do

We support each other: we listen, we are respectful and polite

We show kindness in our everyday actions so that everyone feels valued and part of something special – the Woodfield family.
